Good morning everyone! I hope you were able to take advantage of the wonderful fall weather we had this past weekend!
Today I wanted to write about the NaNoWriMo event that kicks off on November 1st. Before two weeks ago, I had never heard of this event. It stands for: National Novel Writing Month and it is a challenge for all authors to attempt to finish writing the first draft of a novel (50,000 words is the goal) from November 1-30.
I signed up for this challenge this year and I want to encourage all authors out there to consider taking this challenge. I do not think that I’ll achieve the 50,000 word challenge for the month, but I know that by accepting this challenge I will push myself to write more this month than I normally would.
I’m going to try to complete the remaining 8 or 9 short stories that will be in my scary short story book so there’s a possibility that I could write around 32,000 to 36,000 words if I can complete this book!
I think that any time we can take a challenge to help us grow in our craft that it only benefits our careers. There’s still time left to sign up, so if you’re interested go to www.nanowrimo.org and give it a try!! Here’s to motivation!! #nanowrimo #writingchallenges #finishthatnovel
